Martin, Max, Steve and Masayuki

FourNovaPilots (two of them areTeam Pilots)will compete in this years Red Bull X-Alps. As most of you might know, the goal of the X-Alps is to cross the whole alps mountain range from Salzburg to Monaco as fast as possible. The athletes can either fly with their paraglider or hike, carrying their equipment with them. The race goes on day and night, sun or snow, until the first pilot reaches goal.

The Austro-Canadian Max Fanderl already participated two times in the X-Alps. In 2007 he had to quit early and in 2009 he finished 13th among 30 athletes. This year he wants to continue the rising tendency. (Link to Max' Blog)

Steve Nash is the second Team Pilot who will take up the challenge, the X-Alps has to offer. Steve is a "X-Alps Rookie" but he looks back to many successful participations in various endurance competitions, with-, and without a paraglider, like some ultra distance runs. (Link to Steves Blog)

Martin Romero is a X-Alps Rookie as well. But flying and endurance sports is his everyday life. Most of his training consists of biking, running and hiking in the Andes. He hopes that he can useall hisexperience knowledge in the Alps as well.

Masayuki Matsubara is the fourth Nova Pilot, who competes in the X-Alps. Masayuki climbs, runs marathons, and flies paragliders since 1993 with some PWC participations. For hes second X-Alps, he hopes to spend more time in the air in nice conditions than on the ground in bad weather.

The race will start on the 17. July. Max and Steve will keep you updated on their blogs until then.
